Why is this medication prescribed?

Infections brought on by particular strains of bacteria can be treated with nafcillin injection. The drug nafcillin injection belongs to the penicillin drug class. It eliminates bacteria to operate.

Colds, the flu, and other viral diseases cannot be treated with antibiotics like nafcillin injection. Antibiotic use that is not necessary raises the likelihood of developing a later infection that is resistant to antibiotic treatment.

How should this medicine be used?

An intravenous (into a vein) injection of nafcillin injection is available as a premixed product or as a powder to be mixed with liquid. You can also inject nafcillin intramuscularly (directly into a muscle). Usually, it is administered every 4 to 6 hours. The sort of infection you have will determine how long your therapy will last.

Nafcillin injection can be given to you at a hospital or it can be given to you at home. Your medical professional will demonstrate how to administer the medication if you will be having nafcillin injection at home. Make sure you comprehend these instructions, and if you have any issues, consult your healthcare professional.

During the first several days of nafcillin injectable therapy, you should start to feel better. Call your doctor if your symptoms don’t go away or get worse.

Even if you feel better, keep using the nafcillin injection until the prescription is finished. Your illness could not be entirely treated if you stop using nafcillin injection too soon or skip doses, and the bacteria might develop an antibiotic resistance.

Other uses for this medicine

Injections of nafcillin are occasionally used to treat infections in patients undergoing specific procedures. The dangers of using this drug for your illness should be discussed with your doctor.

Ask your doctor or chemist for more details if you believe this drug should be used for something else.
