WARNING

The injection of reslizumab may result in severe or potentially fatal adverse responses. A short time after the infusion has ended or even during the infusion itself, you could have an allergic response.

Each reslizumab injection will be administered to you in a hospital or doctor’s office. After receiving the drug, you will remain in the clinic for a while so your doctor or nurse can closely monitor you for any symptoms of an allergic reaction. If you encounter any of the following symptoms, let your doctor know: Itching, hives, difficulty swallowing, wheezing or breathing difficulties, shortness of breath, flushing, paleness, fainting, dizziness or lightheadedness, confusion, nausea or stomach discomfort, or swelling of your face, lips, mouth, or tongue.

Consult your physician about the dangers of using reslizumab.

Why is this medication prescribed?

Some persons with asthma are treated with reslizumab injection in conjunction with other drugs. Reslizumab belongs to a group of drugs known as monoclonal antibodies. It operates by lowering a certain class of white blood cells that could be a factor in your asthma.

How should this medicine be used?

Reslizumab is administered intravenously (into a vein) by a doctor or nurse in a medical facility. It comes as a solution (liquid). Typically, it is given once every four weeks. You’ll get your dose of reslizumab in between 20 and 50 minutes.

The injection of reslizumab is not utilised to treat an asthma attack. To use during attacks, your doctor will prescribe a short-acting inhaler. See your doctor for advice on how to handle sudden asthma attack symptoms. Talk to your doctor if your asthma symptoms worsen or if you experience episodes more frequently.

If your doctor has prescribed another medicine for you, do not stop taking it or reduce the dosage unless specifically instructed to do so.
