Why is this medication prescribed?

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), a form of liver cancer that cannot be surgically removed, is treated with tremelimumab-actl injection in conjunction with durvalumab (Imfinzi). A specific kind of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that has spread to other parts of the body is also treated with tremelimumab-actl injection, durvalumab, and chemotherapy drugs that contain platinum. Tremelimumab-actl belongs to a group of drugs known as monoclonal antibodies. It functions by supporting your immune system’s ability to inhibit or stop the growth of cancer cells.

How should this medicine be used?

In a hospital or other healthcare setting, a doctor or nurse will administer tremelimumab-actl injection into a vein over the course of 60 minutes. It is typically administered as a single dose for the treatment of HCC. It is typically administered once every three weeks for four doses (cycles 1 to 4) before being administered all at once at week sixteen (cycle six) for the treatment of NSCLC.

During an infusion, tremelimumab-actl injection may result in significant or fatal side effects. While you are receiving the infusion, a doctor or nurse will keep a close eye on you to make sure you are not having a severe response to the medication. Tell your doctor or nurse right away if you have any of the symptoms listed below that could happen during the infusion: chills, flushing, shaking, disorientation, shortness of breath, wheezing, fever, itching, rash, back or neck discomfort, or feeling faint.

Depending on your reaction to the drug and any side effects you have, your doctor may reduce the rate of your infusion, halt your tremelimumab-actl injectable treatment permanently or temporarily, or administer additional medication. How you are feeling while undergoing therapy should be discussed with your doctor.

As soon as you start receiving tremelimumab-actl injectable from your healthcare provider, they will also offer you a copy of the manufacturer’s patient information leaflet (Medication Guide). If you have any questions, thoroughly read the material, then consult your physician or pharmacist.
