What is Vusion?

Vusion is a skin medication that is used in children 4 weeks and older who have a diaper rash as well as a yeast infection.

What is the most important information I should know about Vusion?

Vusion contains medicines that will help treat the yeast infection and the diaper rash. Even if you use Vusion, diaper rash will not go away if you do not keep your child’s diaper area clean and dry. This ointment should not be used instead of regular diaper changes.

Who should not take Vusion?

Vusion is not for treatment of all cases of diaper rash; it is only for diaper rash that also has a yeast infection. Most cases of diaper rash do not need Vusion for treatment, because most do not include a yeast infection. Do not use this medication on your child if he/she is allergic to any of Vusion’s ingredients. Vusion is not a substitute for frequent diaper changes. It should not be used to prevent the occurrence of diaper rash, since preventative use may lead to drug resistence.

What should I tell my doctor before my child takes the first dose of this medication?

Mention all prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal medications your child is taking before beginning treatment with Vusion. Also, talk to your doctor about your child’s complete medical history.

What is the usual dosage?

The information below is based on the dosage guidelines your doctor uses. Depending on your condition and medical history, your doctor may prescribe a different regimen. Do not change the dosage or stop taking your medication without your doctor’s approval.

Children 4 weeks and older: A thin layer of Vusion ointment should be spread across the rash using your fingertip, for 7 days. Vusion is applied to the skin on your child’s diaper area at each diaper change. Apply the ointment for the full 7 days even if the diaper rash starts to go away. Call your child’s doctor if it gets worse or does not go away in 7 days.

How should I take Vusion?

Vusion is for topical use only. Gently, clean the skin on your child’s diaper area with warm (not hot) water. Very mild soap may also be used. Pat the area dry with a soft towel. Use your fingertips and gently apply a thin layer of Vusion to your child’s diaper area at each diaper change. Do not rub the ointment into your child’s skin. Rubbing the skin can cause more irritation. Wash your hands after application.

What should I avoid while taking Vusion?

Avoid using any scented soaps, shampoos, or lotions on the diaper area. Do not use Vusion on your child’s diaper rash unless your doctor tells you that there is also a yeast infection. Do not use on any other children. Avoid contact with the eyes.

What are possible food and drug interactions associated with Vusion?

If Vusion is taken with certain other drugs, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. It is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Vusion with miconazole intravaginal cream or suppository, or warfarin anticoagulant.

What are the possible side effects of Vusion?

Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for your child to continue taking this drug.

Side effects may include: irritation (uncommon)

Can I receive Vusion if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

Vusion is is only prescribed for use in children ages 4 weeks and older. If you are a parent or caretaker who is pregnant or nursing, notify your doctor before handling Vusion.

What should I do if I miss a dose of Vusion?
