Chemical Name: MECLIZINE (MEK-li-zeen)
Meclizine is an antihistamine used to treat and prevent nausea, vomiting, and dizziness caused by motion sickness. Meclizine may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions including allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding.
Follow the directions for using Meclizine provided by your doctor. If you are taking Meclizine to prevent motion sickness: take it at least 1 hour before you travel.
STORE Meclizine HCI at room temperature, away from heat and light.
IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF Meclizine and you are using it regularly, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Meclizine may cause drowsiness. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to Meclizine. Meclizine will add to the affects of other depressants or alcohol. Ask your pharmacist if you have questions about which medicines are depressants.
FOR WOMEN: it is unknown if Meclizine is excreted in breast milk. If you areor will be breast-feeding while you are using Meclizine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
Possible side effects
SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include drowsiness or dry mouth. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
If you take too much
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include unusual excitability, drowsiness, hallucinations, very slow or shallow breathing, and seizures.
DO NOT SHARE Meclizine with others for whom Meclizine was not prescribed.
DO NOT USE Meclizine for other health conditions.
KEEP Meclizine out of the reach of children.
